Mothers deserve to be pampered. There is probably no other woman as equally happy as the bride on her wedding day then her mother. A bouquet of flowers or beauty voucher is a nice gesture but on the occasion of a wedding, a mother is entitled to a timeless memento of the day that she can display and treasure. Mother of the bride gifts should be elegant and meaningful.

The chosen gift should be of the highest calibre and wonderfully embellished. Instead of glass, give crystal. Plain silver is lovely, but if it’s available choose antique styles and ornate decorations. Floral and butterfly engravings are particularly popular amongst mothers, as is diamante studs.

It’s hard to go wrong with jewellery for mother of the bride gifts. Pearls are particularly popular, especially for a wedding. They’re classic and embody an element of romance reflective of the occasion. Freshwater pearls particularly are affordable and versatile. Such a gift is almost guaranteed to make the mother of the bride smile.

Lockets are another great jewellery option, especially when a photo of the bride and her mother are included inside. As it’s a wedding gift, some mothers prefer a photo of the bride and groom. There should be at least two compartments within the box, but three is preferable. Jewellery boxes should also contain a mirror or be covered by a reflective material so that the mother of the bride can easily see herself in the jewellery the box houses.

Vases also make exquisite mother of the bride gifts. If purchasing a vase, then flowers are recommended. Find vases that are crafted from fine crystal. For a more opulent alternative, choose a vase that is jewelled, mirrored, or available in an exotic print.

A compact mirror is an optimal gift for a mother of the bride as it provides both elegance and a valuable function. She’ll be able to carry it with her wherever she goes as a pleasant reminder of the wedding day. Lipstick cases are good for the same reason.

Ornate candle holders are a fancy choice for a gift, including t-light holders. Put candles in the holders before presenting them to the mother of the bride. Scented candles are a pleasant detail as are candles in soft, luxurious colours.

Mother of the bride gifts need to be personalised. Mothers are keen to sentimentality. They like to know they are cherished, so remind her how important she’s been in the bride’s life and in the wedding itself.
