Laitinen Fall/Winter 2011 collection draws its inspiration from boy soldiers and their uniforms during the 1st World War and Russian Revolution. These historical elements are merged with uniforms from youth subcultures including punk, new wave and early hip hop of the 1980s. The mood of the collection combines toughness with tenderness and the silhouette is either slightly bulky and oversized or fitted very close to the body.

The key items of the collection are strictly tailored military coats, tailcoats and dinner jackets with zip-away trench skirts or coat tails. The trousers are either skin tight with a removable wool or leather cummerbund or extra loose with a belted double waistband. The materials vary from military inspired stiff wool flannels to sophisticated silk-wool ribbons and thick yet lightweight bouclé.
